What Color??

Below are pictures from the kitchen in our new house in Crystal...and we just found out that this room needs to be repainted. Any suggestions for color???

I think a deep red color in a kitchen would be cool, or even a plum color, but I am afraid if I go dark in this particular kitchen it will make the already small kitchen seem even smaller. What do you think??

If you click on the pictures you can see a little clearer what color the counter is...that definitely makes a big difference...the trim will remain white or a white-ish color.

I will have to show you before and after pictures of this house...I can't wait to see it all repainted!!!

Stephen and I are helping for a couple days next week...maybe I can take some pictures then...

I think that you are right, if you paint it dark it will shrink the room. Maybe you could get a nice lighter color that goes with the counter and then do some accents and red curtians it would reall pop! That's my opinion. :)

I would say go Bold but like Joyce I would be afraid it would make it seem smaller. I like what Joyce said about being bolder with your accents!

I would do it a bright yellow with red accents. But you know me and red. We are best friends. :)

If you don't want a darker color to shrink the room, you could always paint an accent wall a darker color. Can't wait to see photos!

Welcome back to the Great Lake State! I vote red too. Our small kitchen in Chicago we painted red and it worked out well.

I love red and plum color but I won't do it in my kitchen (I also have kitchen much smaller than yours) somehow I love light airy color for kitchen.

Thanks for checking out my blog! I'm glad it added something to your day. That's really awesome!

Lighter shades and values do extend space...but I think you could get away with red. That would look pretty with dark brown or black accents.

The important thing...is that it's paint. It can be redone, stripped, covered, etc. GO for it. Life is too short not to risk a little. Better to risk on something that could be fix impending a disaster.

Go boldly in whichever direction you choose to go. Just do it.

personally, I'm a big fan of neutrals in the kitchen. I love the process of preparing food and think that colors like a beautiful carmel, or a warm beige allow the focus to be on the food.

However, I also like the accent wall idea, or you could paint the backsplash an accent and use bolder accessories. But the point is...it's YOUR kitchen and I know you have good taste and it will turn out beautiful.
P.S. the cabinets look beautiful Have fun!
