Quinceañera

On Saturday we had a first for our family - a Hispanic girl in our church had what is called a Quinceañera.  In the Hispanic culture it is a huge event where the girl become a woman for the 15th birthday.  Stephen did the ceremony and then after that there was a reception.  It is very much like a wedding.  It was a really neat service and I am glad that we could be a part of it!!  Congrats and happy birthday, Ashleigh!

The kids were excited to sit with their friend Emma :)

Titus is such a nut!

Ashleigh looked so pretty!!

Jason, her stepdad presented her a Bible, Tara, her mom, presented her with a tiara

Her little brother presented her with a purity ring

Stephen did a great job with the service.  It was a really neat ceremony!

Tara does such an amazing job with cakes!!!  Everyone kept going on and on with how good they were, which was torture for me since the kids and I can't have them :)  Smelling them will just have to be enough :) :)

So COOL! One of my high school students who was adopted from (but not raised in) a Mexican family had one too. So much fun and such a neat tradition.
