Paint Workshop

On June 20th, Aletheia and Heather (friends from IWU) came and stayed at our house.  They started a business called Spire, where they travel all around and do paint workshops, and retreats, and all sorts of events with painting.  Our church brought them in for a workshop on the 21st.

So of course we had to show them all the fun you can have in Vestaburg :) :)

Heather's turn!

Aletheia had never been on a motorcycle before...

So of course we had to take her for a spin!

Then on Saturday we got up early to head to the church to set up for the workshops...

Lots of interaction, which was fun!  Here we are picking out a painting that stood out to us and find a partner and share why.  They were all paintings Aletheia had done, which was cool.

For the first part of the workshop, Aletheia shared her testimony and then painted live for us, explaining what she was praying to God as she was painting.  It was really cool for her to take us with her on this journey!

I really liked the painting when it was sideways...

The second workshop was for those that wanted to try painting with yupo paper and acrylic ink

Titus and Damaris really wanted to paint, too!

This was one of my favorites!

Titus was being grumpy, but here we are showing off what the four of us did.  I thought they all turned out really good!

The cool part about the first workshop is that our church got to keep Aletheia's painting that she did!!!

It went so well against the color of the wall where we hung it!

Art can be such an important part of worship...even though I am not really an "artsy" person, I LOVED the workshop and would totally do it again.  Check out their website if you think you might be interested for your church or small group, maybe for a retreat or camp, or a class at school (or whatever group!)...Aletheia is very reasonable, willing to travel, and does an excellent job!!!!
