Funeral for My Grandpa

As I wrote two weeks ago, my grandpa passed away on June 18th.  It was a hard week, but there were some good things that came from it, and it was a great celebration of my grandpa's life.

Here are some pictures...

(he lives in Texas, so it was awesome to have him here for some of the stuff)

Frontier (where I work) sent flowers, which I thought was super nice and very thoughtful.  Although at first, some people were like, "why is the phone company sending flowers??" :)

One of the nice parts of a funeral is seeing family and spending time with them.  Titus loved playing with Evan, my cousin's son

My friend Vickie stopped by with two of her four kids.  I haven't seen her in years, so it was great seeing her again!!

The church had VBS that week, so the kids sang a couple songs.  This one is "I'll Fly Away".  It is one of my favorites, and the last time I was on the praise team at church I had actually requested it and we sang it!  Kind of ironic but cool, and what a fitting song for my grandpa's funeral!

Here is another one they sang!

This is such a sweet picture of my sister Carlyn with my grandma.  She had no clue whatsoever what was going on - which is bittersweet since her and my grandpa would have been married 71 years in September.  My Aunt Carol shared in the funeral how one day they brought my grandma up to see my grandpa when he was in Mary Free Bed.  As soon as he saw her he was trying so hard to talk, his face light up, and he was trying to grab her hand.  In that brief, sweet, precious moment, my Aunt and Uncle know that my grandma had a glimmer of recognition.  I started crying as soon as I heard that.  What an amazing gift!!!

Jen is our honorary sister.  She comes camping with us every year for Memorial Weekend, so obviously she was close and felt like my grandpa was kind of like her grandpa too.  It was soooo nice that she could come up for the funeral!!

It is so hard getting a picture of my grandma much anymore these days - and even hard with our two kids :)

I think this is a sweet picture
