Our Christmas plans got shuffled around a bit, but we still were able to spend time with both sides of our family. Jim's viewing was on Friday, and the funeral was on Saturday, so we just had to squeeze things together a little bit!
Thursday morning we headed out the door early to get to my parent's house in time for breakfast. We ate and then opened presents
My sister already had this blanket made for me, so she wasn't able to give toward my ticket, but I love homemade things, so this was very special!!!!
Stephen ironically got a blanket, too :) But his was from my parents.
He also got a really cool coat that he was pretty excited about
Play with his new toy!
Damaris got this gorgeous dress from my sister!

Then we took the kids ice skating at a rink that is probably only about 4 or 5 miles from my parent's house
At first they weren't too sure, even with these "walkers" the rink had for kids...
Damaris was getting pretty frustrated at first...
So we helped her out for a little while...
And pretty soon she was good to go and having a blast!
Titus seemed to catch on pretty quick, and was flying all around the rink in no time
Stephen and me
Waiting for the ice to be cleared...these "walkers" make pretty good chairs :) :)
Watching the Zamboni make a nice smooth surface for us to go back out there!
After dinner we headed back home, unpacked, repacked, and then headed up to Stephen's parent's house, which meant we didn't get up there until 10:30 pm, and they decided to do Christmas that night!
Stockings first...
One of Titus's favorite toys that he got for Christmas...a remote controlled helicopter!
Damaris loves Barbie :)
And ice skates! We knew the kids were getting them from Stephen's parents, which was another factor in us going skating before we went to their house. The kids had so much fun, they were even asking if they could have a pair sometime (Stephen and I have our own, and we can skate on our pond when it gets thick enough), so it was a perfect setup for them :) :)
a HUGE icicle Stephen broke off :)
Silly faces!
Then we left Friday early afternoon to head back down for Stephen to meet with Jim's family and for us to get to the viewing. Then Saturday after the funeral (it was a WONDERFUL service!) we headed back up to Stephen's parent's church, where they had a special birthday part for Stephen's grandma, who is turning 90 in a couple weeks!
Stephen's uncle and aunt had this painting done...it is the original family farm, and it also has a song painted on it that Stephen's grandma actually wrote. It is such a neat idea, and definitely a keepsake!
