This year so far the kids have had 16 days of school cancelled. SIXTEEN! It's been crazy. We have had snow and more snow! In fact, according to the airport in Grand Rapids, we are less than 30 inches from breaking the record for most snowfall...and no, it was not from the "winter of '78" that everyone loves to talk about :) We are well past that record. It has also been extremely cold...we have set records for consecutive days below freezing. We have had at least 3 or 4 of our 16 days that were cancelled specifically for extreme cold (like -20 to -40 degree temperatures).
For me, winter is winter...it's all cold and miserable. But I always say that if it has to be cold, there might as well be snow...so that has made me happy this winter. The snow has been beautiful!
Here is a picture I snapped a couple weeks ago of our deck, before we had a weird warm-up and freezing rain and lost a bunch of snow. I took the picture on the level, so you could see how much snow we had on our deck...it's crazy!
Although the snow has made the cold and long winter more bearable, I am DEFINITELY ready for warm weather!!!!!!!!!!!! There is hope that spring is around the corner...I heard birds chirping tonight...what an amazing sound after weeks on end of freezing cold and silence when you go outside!
