I am not sure how it is a whole month since my last post...we have had a mix of really busy, and really slow. I love the slower days, and even some weekends that we could be at HOME. It felt wonderful.
My laptop is frying cords right now, so at some point I am going to have to get a new one...for now, I am trying to make do without a laptop...which means it has been hard to keep my blog updated, at least on the picture end of it :) Thankfully I was able to get everything wiped off my old laptop and moved to our external hard drive without frying Stephen's computer cord, so at least I didn't lose anything!
Anyway, here are some pictures of our trip to Anderson's Orchard on Saturday, April 12th. They opened at the beginning of the month, so of course we had to go check out their new animals and eat donuts :) It was a little chilly, and not all the animals were out yet, but we still had a great time!
I could not get a good picture...at all...but this is one of their new animals...it is kind of like a Dingo.
He is still a puppy, but he was sooooo cute!
Without the trees having leaves you could see the pheasant really good...such vibrant colors!
But he would not hold still, so it was hard getting pictures of him, too :)
The turkeys were all riled up...so it was fun to see them all "puffed" up!
A new baby monkey...can you see him on his mom's back?!? Soooo cute! These are such tiny monkeys anyway, so the babies are just beyond adorable :)
Fun on the swings :)
Completely exhausted :)
That night we had gone to a restaurant in Greenville for dinner because we had a gift certificate...it looked like it was about to storm, so we bolted for our car...and just in time, as it started hailing like CRAZY. The ground was completely covered in less than a minute. Thankfully there was no damage to our car, but it was a wild storm.
Then by the time we got home and got the kids in bed, we lost power. And then the wind started. They say it wasn't a tornado, but it gave me a weird feeling...it was really intense. We lost two trees, our neighbor's plastic play set ended up in our pond, trees fell on houses, the wind ripped off roofs, siding was ripped off buildings, and there was just a lot of damage in a matter of minutes all over the area. All night long we had loud thunder storms and lots of rain, and from the intense storms and rain, there were some roads/bridges washed away in certain areas.
We ended up not having power for 48 hours. Thankfully we were able to borrow a generator to power our refrigerator and deep freeze, but having well water means no running water...and with an electric stove, there is no cooking food...so although I normally don't care about power outages, I do care about food and water LOL. We survived, though, and it made me even more thankful for modern conveniences that we easily take for granted :) :)
