Marriage Retreat

Labor Day weekend, before the kids went back to school, Stephen and I went to our district's Married Couples Retreat.  Stephen was the speaker, which he was very excited to do!  It was a great weekend and we met a lot of really cool people.  The first night there, Stephen took me to a spot he found when we were at the campground in July for Family Camp.  It was really pretty, so we snapped a few pictures...and were the only pictures I took all weekend long :)

This one was my favorite!

And speaking of marriage...I just want to be vulnerable and say that marriage is hard...really hard. One of the hardest, most painful things I have ever had to go through.

I have wanted out (because running away from problems at first seems easier than working through them) only to feel trapped in our marriage because we both committed to never use the word "divorce" in our vocabulary.

But you know what? The flip side is that marriage has been the most rewarding, can't-put-into-words, amazing thing in my life, too. With pain comes joy...and with working out issues and conflict and hurt comes an even deeper, stronger relationship.

YOUR SPOUSE AND YOUR MARRIAGE IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR!!!!!

To be honest, these last few months have been HARD.  We have a lot of things we are working on right now, and change is painful, but the end result will be a relationship that is stronger and so much healthier. Stephen is my absolute best friend, and even though we have rough times, and fight and argue more than I care to admit, I love Stephen to the very core of who I am and I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else!

These photos are adorable! I'm glad you guys are still in it together after all these years :) N and I went through rough patch around year seven (the seven year itch is real!), but worked through things and now our relationship has been stronger than ever. I hope you two will continue to communicate and strengthen your marriage. Hugs!
