Last Saturday Stephen's mom invited us to their church's Mother/Daughter Banquet. We had a great time, and Damaris did very well!! Here are some pictures of our evening:

Stephen's Grandma and Aunt

Unfortunately I was focusing so much on getting Damaris to smile, that I wasn't watching my camera...and ended up cutting off part of Stephen's Aunt. Oops!! It still is a super cute picture, though!

Me and Damaris
Mother's Day itself, well...the whole thing was just plain ridiculous (even though because of how ridiculous it was we ended up surprising my parents, so that was good!). But by the end of the day I was laughing, so I suppose that is a good thing :)
Sunday morning was no exception to any other Sunday morning, which is always crazy since Stephen goes to the church really early...so you know, glad Mother's Day didn't stop that trend :) So I figure, to all you others out there that can relate to this story, here you go :) :)
This particular Sunday morning I get the kids eating breakfast, try to jump in the shower super fast and bring Eve in the bathroom with me so she doesn't get into trouble, but barely get in there and Damaris is knocking on the door. As soon as I get out, Even is starting to hack...so I quickly throw a towel around me, grab her by the collar and haul her to the door, but she is leaving a trail of puke the whole way. I throw her outside, get a rag, and start cleaning the floor. As soon as I am done cleaning up, I now have to figure how to get Eve back in the house without having to go outside...a) because it is COLD outside and b) because I still am only wrapped in a towel and we live in town, and didn't want to give the neighbors a show. THANKFULLY she listened when I call her and give her a treat so I didn't have to go very far outside. I throw some clothes on, the kids are asking if they can have milk, Damaris says she has to go to the bathroom, Eve then has to go outside to go to the bathroom, and by this point my hair is drying completely funny and now I have to use a straightener. Oh well. I start getting a little more ready while the kids finish up breakfast, throw Damaris in the bathtub and wash her up, let Titus play the Wii, and I am back to getting ready. Damaris is yelling that she wants out of the bath, so get her out and dressed and get Titus in the bath and cleaned up. I realize it is now 15-20 minutes before I have to leave for church and I still haven't eaten breakfast - oh, yeah. I am hungry. I haven't had a chance to even think about that yet.
Then I get home from church, I have a really nice lunch planned for us. Only 10 minutes left on the chicken and the power goes out. The carrots and potatoes are slightly edible so that is all we have to eat. Finally after an hour we decide to head to my parents because we have no idea when the power is coming back on. I really just wanted to stay at home all day for Mother's Day, but what can I do?!?
We get home from my parents only to realize that my sister, who is in Cambodia and I have not talked to other than online called to wish me a happy Mother's Day. I am frustrated that I missed her call because if the power hadn't gone out I would have been home. THANKFULLY she called back, we laughed about the whole ridiculous day, and I am still laughing about the whole day...I mean, what can you do but laugh, right?!? :) :)
So Happy Mother's Day to you all, especially those of you that can relate to my day :) :)
I am REALLY behind on blogs. Sometimes I do good if I can just read it, let alone comment on it, so I am sorry if that is you!
Our power went out again yesterday from 6-9 PM, so that hurt too...only this time it was Stephen's dinner that was ruined (well, dessert anyway)...so we could laugh about that too, because I knew exactly how he was feeling :)
Well, that was a lot of rambling, but there you have it. Time is just marching forward at an alarming pace...

I have had many days like this in the last few years!! All you can do sometimes is just laugh when things keep going wrong...and wrong...and wrong because otherwise I would probably just cry!! It's adds humor to our lives....i guess!! :)
Wow, what a day. Good thing you could laugh. Aunt Linda Mowat
I can relate! Every night well almost every night is choas when I get home with both kids and everyone's gear then dinner, tubby, bedtime routine ect and then I start getting things in order and then my husband walks in. If he only knew, which he does but occasionally I have to leave him with both kids as a reminder, its a tough job.
hey you--can you send me your parent's email? i need to hook up with them--thanks! :)
Wow- I thought I had a bad Mother's Day :) I am glad you have a good perspective. :)
I hope tomorrow morning will go better for you!
