Good Days and Bad...

We have had quite the battle with both kiddos this week! Damaris decided to have 3-4 nights of waking up every 1-2 hours to eat...she would start getting fussy after dinner and acting hungry all the time then continue through the night and then be fine during the day...very tiring!!! I didn't think I could take it anymore, but then she had a couple good nights of 4-5 hour spans, which was WONDERFUL...but then last night was back to 2-3 hours.

Stephen caught Damaris and I napping on the couch Sunday afternoon :)

She is not a very content baby, but not nearly as fussy as Titus was - but at least we don't have to deal with the projectile vomit and spitting up ALL THE TIME like we did with Titus. She cries when she wants her diaper changed, she cries when she is hungry, she cries when she needs to burp, and she cries when she is tired - and won't quit until she falls asleep. Maybe this is normal?? I guess it is harder in some ways because I feel like I am doing everything wrong. Titus just cried all the time - but it was from the spitting up and he was in pain or something I think. Have any of you seen the Oprah segment where she talks about baby cries?? A lady at church taped it for me, and I have listened to it a few times, but the only one I can consistently pick out is the hunger cry...which I suppose is a good one. Sometimes I can tell she is fussing because she has gas and needs to burp, and sometimes I can tell when she is tired, but overall her cries sound the same to me. I keep trying though!

Another one of my favorite dresses...you have to see it in person to appreciate the cuteness :)

Titus had a super fussy day a few days ago and ended up spending most of it in his bed because I finally told him that if he was going to throw a fit he was going to go to bed. I was not up to his screaming and fits after having no sleep. I don't know if it worked or not, but it was a new approach I hadn't tried before, and we haven't had a day like that again...but he does still have a few of his 2-year old fits every day...he is a very strong-willed child, and I guess that is paybacks for my own childhood ;)

"CHEEEESE"

On an exciting note, Titus now says his name when you ask him what his name is. It is very cute. We are trying to get him to say Damaris' name, but that might take a while :) He is just starting to put words together which is fun...he has only been saying one word here and there even though he knows a lot of words. He is saying "all done" and his first sentence "Where is he/she/it?" when he is trying to find someone or something. You can just see his mind putting things together and realizing more and more.

Titus loves to give kisses...and I tried to get a picture of him giving Damaris a kiss, and this is about the best I could do on my own:

As requested, here are some pictures of our camper...and by the way, it IS hard camping with kids...but we still enjoy it. Titus LOVES being outside, so during the day he was great. But, last year he was TERRIBLE at night when we were camping...mainly because it wasn't his normal routine and he was too young to understand. At church camp last summer we had to drive home two of the nights at like 1 or 2 AM because he would not quit screaming and go to bed. So, we knew exactly what we wanted in this camper...a room separate for the kids so it was more like a bedroom and lots of space for them to play on rainy days. Our other camper had neither of these, and that was half the problem.

The kitchen table and couch.
This part is called a "slideout" because a whole section of the trailer actually slides out away from the inside of the camper to make more room inside. It makes it seem SO much bigger and not as crowded. Being slightly claustrophobic, this part really helps my sanity :)

The bunkhouse for the kids...notice the DOOR we can close :) It has a double bed on the bottom and a twin bed on top. Titus is sleeping on the bottom bed for now, but when he is older he will move up top and Damaris will have the bottom so we can put the baby gate up for her.

Kitchen area...not huge, but we cook a lot outside anyway. It has a lot of storage, which is nice.

From the outside...

Looks like we won't be able to go camping this weekend :( Too much going on at the church to run back and forth for. At least there is next weekend for sure!

Michelle, in regards to the baby cries. Only a mother knows best. Trust yourself. You know what Damaris needs. It is tiring. Taylor was very colic and cried endlessly sometimes--so it seemed. It wears on our emotions, but it gets better. We have wonderful moments in between.--and cat naps here and there. Don't be so hard on yourself. You are a great mom-I'm sure of it. Just remember that you have the Lord on your side and He never gives us more than we can handle. Sometimes we jsut need a little reminder. Love you tons and praying for you--rest, peace, and patience:)
ps-I am jealous of your awesome camper! have fun!:)

The camper looks amazing and so nice!! It will be much roomer for us if it rains on us again next time we camp!! (wink wink) I, too, believe that you are amazing mother and that you are doing just fine!! She's new to you and it always takes a little time to get used to their cries, needs and wants!! She is such a doll!

I am not trying to push anything on you and I will not be offended at all if you don't even want to try it but my secret to my children has been an amazing book called "Babywise" by Gary Ezzo. It is not a book for every mother because all mothers are different with different perspectives but it has made my life sooooo much easier. The baby stage with my kids was so much easier to handle with this book. I needed it with my personality. You may like it or you may not??? I know many people who love the book and used it with their children. It worked for me and I don't know what my life, with small babies, would have been like without it!

I am late with this one. The camper looks very nice. I know you will love it.

I know for a fact you are a great Mom. Have fun camping this weekend, wish I could be there, wait no I don't, my cabin with AC and shower hasn't been built yet. Are you still working on saying Aunt Carlyn with Titus? I know you have nothing better to do so get to it. :)

Love ya,
Carlyn
