Baseball Game

This past Saturday was a special event at Comerica Park in Detroit, which is where the Detroit Tigers play.  The event was called "Home Plate" and included singing by the lead singer of Sanctus Real, who also writes music for several of the main stream Christian artists of today.  We also heard from several current and past players from the Tigers, and we even got to hear from 3 umpires.  They all shared their testimonies, and it was really good!

Kara and Dan went with us

Matt Hammitt from Sanctus Real

This guy was just pulled up recently.  He was a pitcher - but I don't remember his name...

Willie Horton, 1968 World Champion

I think this is Buck Farmer, one of their pitchers???  Someone help! :)

Three umpires shared their stories.  It was really cool!!  And, I had no idea how difficult it was for someone to become an umpire.  Let's just say, they only take the best of the best!!

Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Tigers Catcher

James McCann, Tigers Catcher

Frank Tanana was supposed to be there, but there was a last minute family issue, so they found Harvey Carey, who was a pastor in Detroit to deliver the main message.  He did a great job!

After the program, we were able to go down on the field for a workshop where they teach some basic skills of baseball.

Kara and Titus

I love this one of Stephen and Titus :)

Family Picture
(minus Damaris, who didn't want to go to the game)

While we were on the field, Stephen married a couple from our church, which was cool!

Fred and Christina Low and Christina's kids

Even though we were in the upper level, we had amazing seats!

The Tigers lost 10-5, but it still was a lot of fun.  It was my first time attending a major league game!

Completely wore out!  We left a little after 5:30 AM, and didn't get back until after 9, so it was a long day!
