By Sunday morning we were tired of being wet and cold, so Charleston, South Carolina was sounding better and better by the minute! We had an interesting go of church - we found a Wesleyan Church in Tennessee, but wow - I think we could have had service together just the three of us and gotten more out of it. The whole service was basically a memorial service - which is OK I guess, but I probably wouldn't do it on a Sunday morning...not to mention that they changed the time of the service and didn't even put THAT in their bulletin (if you could call it a bulletin). Basically we walked in, thinking Sunday School was about to end - but it didn't. We finally sat in the back for the last 15 minutes of it. There was no singing, and no sermon...and maybe 30 people.
Anyway, we were most of the way through TN when we blew another tire on the camper...this time we were prepared since we bought another spare and now owned the right wrench. We pulled off into a rest area and when Stephen looked at the other two tires, we knew we were not going much further. We pulled out the map and realized we were about 30-40 minutes away from Gatlinburg, and since we went there on our honeymoon, we knew it was a nice area. We were extremely disappointed that we wouldn't see the ocean (Stephen has never been) or be in warm weather, but very grateful we were in a good area so we could still have a decent vacation.
Everything was wet and dirty from all the rain, plus we didn't have any more warm clothes, so we spent a lot of time washing clothes, blankets, and sleeping bags. We all were pretty exhausted and emotionally spent. Monday we found a place that could replace all 4 tires, so we went to an museum that had war planes while they did the tires. That night we went to an aquarium in Gatlinburg, which was AMAZING. Titus had never really seen fish before, and was screaming nonsense at the top of his lungs just because he was so excited and didn't know how else to respond. It was so fun watching his expressions. On the 25th we spent all morning in a vacation resort presentation so that we could go for free to a show in Pigeon Forge that night. I guess it was worth it because now we own a tiny bit of property in Gatlinburg (which has better value than our house in Marion!!!) and get to go on a cruise for free...plus stay at a RESORT the next time we try to go to South Carolina...we figure this is a win-win situation all the way around.
On the 26th we packed up and headed home...which ended our strangely disappointing but good vacation :)
